You may remember the collection of 'H's that I've started for Hope from this post. Since I posted that photo (also posted above), the collection has expanded. I thought that it might be fun to tell you where I got them & the story behind them.
From left to right....the two silver Hs (the far left & the big one in the center) are from Restoration Hardware. They have great stuff, especially at Christmastime. The black one, edged in gray, was found on ebay & is from an old California drive-in sign. The large one in back of that was a baby gift from my Big Flea buddy. She & I are dedicated Big Flea shoppers :) You probably can't see it well, but its an old printer's block. The pink & gold ones are just unfinished wood from Michaels that I painted. The green one is also from ebay & is from a Texaco station! The first, small, red one is a kid's wooden block & the larger red one is from an old sign.
These are my fun, creative Hs. All 3 are paper mache from either Papersource or Recollections. They come in several fonts & are fun to fix up in different ways. Everytime I see an H in a new font, I buy it & wait for inspiration to strike. The button covered one is inspired by Cindy's gorgeous, creative wreaths. When I saw hers, I thought, "Aha! Finally a use for all of those vintage white buttons!!!" The one in front is done with the cutest vintage looking scrapbook paper from Foofala. It has the sweetest old fashioned illustrations & nursery rhymes. I knew that I had to fit it into Hope's vintage nursery somehow. And, the last one in the row is the first that I made, a decoupage of various pink scrapbook papers, layered over one another.
Its a fun little collection to have since there are so many styles of letters out there & you can get them relatively cheaply. And, Hope will one day appreciate it! Until then, I'll have fun putting it together :)
