Last year I wrote about how I was going to finally get around to decorating our master bedroom in this post, complete with all of the pieces that I'd picked and a vision board. As a reminder:
Well....everything looked nice on the board, but I didn't love it. I finally figured out that I really didn't want to have all of that beige in my bedroom. I want something more pretty and lighter. I didn't really move forward with it all.
Sometime last spring, I got inspired and what I want just came to me. Introducing my new master bedroom inspiration board:
I feel like this scheme is fresher. I'm all set on the bedding and the display of dishes over the bed, as well as the lighting. I know that ceiling fans are a designer no-no, but we need one in Virginia! So, I found the most un-ceiling fan-like ceiling fan that I could! Hunter Courtland style, if anyone is interested. As far as art, many of my long time followers will recognize the Kew Gardens poster from our bedroom. I purchased it while studying in England and it remains a cherished item. I would love one day to own a seaside landscape, particularly one of Chatham, but that is a down-the-road purchase.
My big breakthrough was on fabric for curtains. I have literally been looking for the right fabric for years (only a decorating obsessed person like me would say things like "breakthrough" and "looking for years" when discussing curtain fabric). I was browsing the Lewis & Sheron website a few weeks ago & fell in love with the 'Autumn Leaves' fabric in the center.
Pretty and flowery but not too much, if you know what I mean. I found the Riley Blake 'Floribella' on Etsy, which I think will make wonderful accent pillows on the bed.
At this point, the last things left to do are to purchase fabric and make the curtains and pillows. And, then (Finally!) I will have 'after' photos to show you!
